CELYS staple fibres biodegradation test
More than half a year ago our Celys staple fibres were sent to TÜV Rheinland Lab for biodegradation tests based on DIN EN 13432:2000, ASTM D 6400:2019, AS 4736:2006 standards. Tests include
- Heavy Metals and Other Toxic Substances
- Volatile Solids Content
- Aerobic Biodegradation Test
- Quantitative Aerobic Disintegration Test
- Plant Test
- Earthworm Toxicity Test
After 6 months tests, the results show that all the tests are passed. In terms of biodegradation, Aerobic Biodegradation Test, based on ISO 14855-1:2012/ASTM D5338-15 standard method, tells us how many percent has been biodegraded in the testing period. According to DIN EN 13432:2000, ASTM D 6400:2019, AS 4736:2006 standards, a minimum of 90% biodegradation rate is required within 180 days for obtaining the certificate.
Our result (Test material), shown in the table below, demonstrates that our Celys biodegraded more than 95% within 179 days, fulfilled the requirements accordingly.
The Earthworm Toxicity Test is an additional MUST for Australian certificate based on AS 4736:2006 standards. In this test, the impact of the biodegraded product on earthworms is evaluated. Our Celys is again proved to be safe to environment.
